The renovated Wisp Resort Course was recently honored with an Affinity Award via the 2009 Golf Course Industry, Builders Excellence Awards. The award honored Wisp Resort Course for enhancing the overall golf experience and for construction and renovation excellence, at the same time being cognizant of the enviornment and working through record rainfall during the project.

Course design enhancements were completed by architect Todd Schoeder of Denver-based Design Workshop with the the construction/builder falling under the direction of Aspen Corp., a certified builder member of the Golf Course Builders Association of America. Construction management services and grow in were directed by Scottsdale-based OB Sports Golf Management and Wisp Resort superintendent, Scott McMillon.

All told, Wisp unveiled four new golf holes and a totally revamped course routing. The new routing is a continuous 18 hole loop (versus modern nine and back routings), yet still provides golf purists with a core golf experience, as the residential component at Wisp lies on the outer perimeter of the playing corridors.
